These intrepid heroines served as bi-lingual telephone operators on the front lines, helping turn the tide of World War I. During the war, communication was essential – but calls weren’t getting through fast enough. Cue The Hello Girls: the incredible bilingual women who operated telephones and helped turn the tide of the war – then returned home for a decades-long battle for recognition that’s ongoing today.
