Tour Highlights

On this magnificent one-day Grizzly Bear Tour, you will board a chartered aircraft and fly nonstop from Calgary to Prince Rupert, British Columbia, where you will be shuttled to a fully weatherproof 72-foot catamaran for a 7-hour tour to the pristine wilderness of the Khutzeymateen, home of the largest population of grizzly bears anywhere on earth.
Along the way, watch for porpoises, seals, sea lions, bald eagles, and blue herons as you learn first-hand about this diverse marine environment and about historic villages. Then, enter the rugged coastal mountains and the Khutzeymateen Valley where you will have a chance to see these legendary giants in their natural environment. Bear watching begins in the Spring when the grizzlies descend from their dens to feed on sedge grass along the lush shoreline. From the silence and safety of the boat, you may watch as they graze, often feeding on mussels and other sea treats. It is truly a photographer’s paradise and will be the highlight of your summer. At the end of the tour, you are returned to the airport to check in for your dinner flight home
We will depart Calgary or Edmonton by chartered jet at 7:30 AM to maximize our grizzly bear viewing time in Khutzeymateen Valley, along the northern coast of BC. The flying time to Prince Rupert is approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes.
Enroute to Prince Rupert you will be served breakfast while listening to a naturalist speaker entertain you with fascinating facts about the grizzly bears and other wildlife in the Khutzeymateen Valley. Once we have descended upon Prince Rupert our group will be shuttled to the dock, where we will board the Inside Passage for a 7-hour guided boat excursion.
While on the cruise, we will find ourselves among the most fascinating wildlife and breathtaking scenery. It will take approximately 2 hours to cruise Chatham Sound. Upon arrival at Khutzeymateen we will spend 2 to 3 hours observing grizzly bears. Lunch will be served onboard the Inside Passage.
The afternoon cruise on Chatham Sound, as we return to Prince Rupert, gives us the opportunity to spot more wildlife. At day’s end we cruise Prince Rupert Harbour and then shuttle back to the airport for our dinner flight home, arriving at approximately 8:30 PM.
